China Glaze: Haunting Crackle Glaze

November 14, 2011

I know this post is late considering that Halloween is over but I wanted to test out some of these nail polishes and wear them (which I had prior to and during Halloween) before I posted a review on them and then school and a bunch of other things got in the way, but better late than never right? So a month ago, my cousin and I went to cosmoprof to pick up a glow in the dark nail polish for Halloween. The day before I called them to see if they had China Glaze’s Ghoulish glow in stock, and was so sad to learn that they didn’t. I was so disappointed, but then I remembered that OPI came out with a glow in the dark nail polish called “Zom-body to love” so I asked her if they had that in stock and they did but it was in a pack (Pair’em and scare’em) and came with the black shatter. They didn’t sell it individually so we decided to get it and give the black shatter to someone else. We put 2 on hold for Sunday since they were close to closing and we weren’t going to make in time.  The next day when we went to pick them up, we saw the Haunting Crackle glaze and decided it was a better deal than the OPI Pair’em Scare’em.

The OPI pair’em and scare’em set was $11.50 and came with “Zom-body to love” and OPI “Black shatter”. Both of us already have the black shatter so it didn’t make sense to buy the OPI Pair’em and Scare’em. Plus we got 2 more polishes for $1.25 more!

China Glaze “It’s Alive”

I have to say I was not expecting to like “It’s alive” but I’m in love with it! Not only was it perfect for Halloween, it is also awesome for the rest of fall and winter. It’s a mossy olive green with brighter green round and hexagon glitters. It look’s darker in the bottle then when you would swatch it. It took 3 coats to get it opaque in the picture below.

Swatch with “It’s Alive” by itself

Swatch with “Ghoulish glow” on top

When you put “Ghoulish glow” on top of its alive you can tell the difference that it makes it lighter

China Glaze “Ghoulish Glow”

This Glow in the dark nail polish works well. I never had a glow in the dark nail polish before so I have nothing to compare it to but the girl at cosmoprof told me that OPI’s “Zom-body to love ” has more of a greenish glow while “Ghoulish Glow”  just glows. So if you’re looking for a green glow OPI “Zom-body to love” is a good bet.  Personally I just want it to glow and without any color tint so you can wear it year round and not just on Halloween (concerts, new year’s eve etc).

China Glaze Crackle “Black mesh”

I have to say the formula for the black mesh crackle is better than the formula for OPI’s “Black shatter”. I’ve had a couple of weeks to work with it and the consistency of the polish is the same as the day I got it. I will be posting a blog about comparing all the shatter and crackle brands (as soon as I can get my hands on Sally Hansen crackle for under $6 just to test all the brands. So watch out for that soon

China Glaze “Fast Forward” top coat

The top coat dry`s in 5 minutes and does not have a funky smell with it either (unlike the seche vite top coat which I strongly suggest using it in a well ventilated room) again I’ll be comparing fast drying top coats in a post in the near future.
