OPI- Rainbow connection

November 15, 2011

Can you believe it’s November already! It’s that time of the year again when Holiday nail polishes and collections come out. Personally this is my favourite season for nail polish because the most beautiful shade’s come out during this time. Last year I fell in love with OPI’s Burlesque collection, especially the glitters! I own all but 2 of the glitter polishes’ and a couple of the shimmers. My favourite nail polish from that collection is a tie between “Sparklelicious” and “Shimmer and simmer”. Around   early December I picked up China Glaze’s “Party Hearty” which is a glitter, and basically is like Christmas in a bottle.  What can I say I just love this time of the year!

That being said a week ago I was just browsing around at my local beauty supply store and they finally had put out the OPI Muppets collection. If you haven’t heard of it yet, OPI is collaborating with the upcoming new movie “Muppets”. The most talked about Glitter has to be “Rainbow connection”. I was really lucky I came to the beauty supply when I did since there was only 1 bottle left and I know it’s going to be hard to find. Why you must ask, it’s because it’s almost an exact dupe for Deborah Lippmann’s “Happy Birthday”. I don’t know about you, but here in Canada it’s not that easy to find Deborah Lippmann polishes as to say OPI. If you see this Shade I defiantly recommend getting this polish if you had to only get one from the collection.   I’ll do a complete review on the Muppets collection when I get the 2 other colors that I want which is going to be closer to December or whenever I go down to the states.

Unlike last year’s glitters, rainbow connection contains bigger and chunkier glitter along with 5 other glitter polishes’ (Divine swine, Gone Gonzo!, Excuse Moi!, Fresh Frog of Bel Air, and Gettin’ Miss Piggy with it). This swatch is with 3 coats and even then it isn’t opaque. Meanwhile “Sparklelicious” and other glitter polishes from the burlesque collection were opaque with 3 coats (considering its micro glitter it’s easier be more opaque).  I would wear OPI’s “Alpine Snow” with this or OPI’s “Birthday babe” or any other white/ silver nail polish.  What can I say I love this polish!  Also I’m East Indian so I wear a lot of suits and sari’s to parties and etc and this polish is perfect since it goes with any outfit.

You can get Deborah Lippmann at Murale or nailpolishcanada.com! Rainbow Connection is pretty fun though… definitely one of the more unique glitters in this collection.
